This house was built to a really high standard and quality. The challenging part for us was coating all the different areas of substrate from the honed concrete block walls to the timber battens etc.. For the honed concrete block walls, they had a negative detail that transitioned from the wall to the painted areas. This was a difficult area for us to gap & paint and keep the blocks clean. But the attention to detail is what sets it off. The timber battens had been imported from Australia and were made out of spotted gum. We had to use different stains of Drydens Woodmaster interior oil to match the colour of the walnut timber that was on the joinery in the kitchen and other areas of the house. There is a Plywood ceiling in the Family room that we had to clear coat and tie in with the walls, windows and vanda blind boxes. Also the house had no architraves/window reveals, these were plastered & square stopped into the windows instead. This meant that there was a lot more fine finishing work needed around these areas. All in all there are a lot of different substrates on the interior of the house: plaster, concrete blocks, timber battens, plywood etc.. The transition needed for the different required finishes and the co-ordination between the builders and painters has meant that there is an outstanding standard of finish. If not done properly this could have resulted in a lot of problems.
