This project was taking an old 1970’s home and renovating it to make it contemporary and a lot easier to live in. It has a lot of 1970’s features that have been reworked and modernised.
Features
When we first arrived there had been a lot of leaks and water damage over time. The timber ceilings were mouldy, water damaged and didn’t look great. We had to sand the timber tng right back to bare wood, stain them with a tinted polyurethane to bring the colour back and hide any watermarks then topcoat again with a clear polyurethane. The darker timber beams had had a lot of different finishes applied to them over time so we had to work out the finish they had, and come up with a system to be able to coat them and have them all looking the same. Some of the timber needed a low sheen paint, some needed Resene Colourwood, some needed and oil based stain. Something that was an eyesore is now a feature and you couldn’t tell the difference in finishes. Also the contrast between the timber tng and the black beams meant we had to be meticulous with our finishing.
Exterior:
Because this house had been leaking over time the builder needed to have a house wrap put over the house so he could take off the roofs and sort out the issues. There was also a large number of different angled roofs and awkward areas to get to. Due to the areas of rot we had to blend the new weatherboards in with the existing to make it seemless. There was a lot of preparation needed on the existing substrates to get them up to the required standard.
This was a new house built to look like the existing old character surrounding houses in Mt Victoria, Wellington. We painted the exterior and interior of this new house.
This was a commercial building for a church. It was a big co-ordination operation with the building company. Everything had a timeframe and was on a larger scale than normal.
This was a large new house build. It was a difficult site with many levels to get to. The house level of finish was extremely high. There are cedar ceilings and walls, an internal pool, a see-through glass walkway and more. It was a real pleasure to be able to be part of this project.
For this job the builders constructed a new café for a golf course which then had an apartment built on top. There is the mix between retail, commercial kitchen and a personal retreat space.
This was a new house build. The house comprises a high stud central wall that is the spine of the home with the rest of the house flowing off this. There are timber veneer doors and a lot of bright colours throughout the house that gave us a challenge with matching everything in to a high standard.
This job for the builder was to build a new house in Seatoun for their clients. Due to the sloping section it was a challenging build, but it created the opportunity to have a lot of different spaces. The house is built over 4 Levels. We painted the interior of the house. The attention to detail by the builders’ is amazing and required a lot of planning and collaboration to make sure all the details could be painted properly in the right sequence.
